Glenda’s Garden
A memorial for my uncle Robert Chipman
My uncle was an architect, a lover of family, science fiction, and coffee. He passed away a few years ago and I never had a chance to say goodbye. My aunt decided to plant a garden in his memory and I designed this as a centre-piece. I’m not entirely sure exactly what he’d think of it but I’m sure he’d give a pleased little chuckle.

About the build
My aunt lives on a large plot of land that requires some caretaking. A few years ago we noticed some beech trees began suffering from beech bark disease and needed to come down. We set them to dry and the next summer I used the wood to build Glenda’s Garden. It was an incredible experience to spend a few weeks in the woods of Nova Scotia building this and the garden with my aunt. My definition of paradise.
